"Educators who don't apply philosophy to thinking must be superficial. A superficial educator may be a good educator or a bad educator-but the good is limited and the bad is getting worse. " This is the most touching sentence about the value of educational philosophy to teachers' growth by American scholar George Naylor in his book Introduction to Educational Philosophy.

Educational philosophy is one of the important branches of pedagogy. It is the cultural crystallization of philosophical examination and reflection on educational phenomena and behaviors, and it is also the influence and application of philosophical thoughts in the field of education. However, all great educators have their own clear and systematic educational philosophy, and great philosophers often have philosophical works on education.

However, many primary and secondary school teachers often "stay at a respectful distance" from the educational concept, thinking that it is far from educational practice. In fact, there is often an educational idea behind an educational behavior, and there is also an educational idea as a theoretical basis behind every curriculum reform. Primary and secondary school teachers should move closer to educational philosophy, move towards educational philosophy, play the role of educational philosophy in their professional growth and educational practice, and then form their own educational philosophy.

So, what is the value of philosophy in life? What is the relationship between educational philosophy and educational practice? How do primary and secondary school teachers move towards educational ideas? What role does educational philosophy play in teachers' professional development? Wait a minute. With these questions, New Curriculum Review magazine interviewed Mr. Jin Shenghong, a professor at Zhejiang Normal University and an expert in educational philosophy.

Philosophy and education are devoted to making people live a better life.

New course review: Dear Professor Jin, hello! First of all, thank you very much for accepting our interview about the educational concept. As we know, philosophy is a discipline and an important academic field. The word "philosophy" originally meant to love wisdom in Greek. Why does philosophy love wisdom?

Jin Shenghong: Hello! Your question is very good! As we all know, the word "philosophy" comes from ancient Greece, which means the love of wisdom. The so-called love of wisdom is the love of truth, that is, the constant pursuit of the essence of things, the constant test of whether one's beliefs are true, the examination of whether one's actions are correct, and the reflection on whether one's lifestyle is reasonable. In this kind of questioning, reflection and investigation, we confirm our thoughts, understand the purpose and principle of action, and think about the meaning of life. This is what philosophy means when its eyes are fixed on truth.

"Love wisdom" in philosophy refers to the spirit and way of critical reflection, as well as the understanding, wisdom and knowledge of future generations. Therefore, the love of wisdom in philosophy is related to the formation of a sound mind, to the formation of our fundamental thoughts and insights on things, and to the goodness of our actions in life. In fact, philosophy is not only a discipline, but also a way of life. Through this way of life, people form a thoughtful attitude towards their own life beliefs, practical actions and living environment, and form a mind that treats life wisely, that is, form a keen ability to judge, think and practice. Therefore, the significance of philosophy is not that it is a discipline, but that it is a way of life.

New Curriculum Review: Philosophy is not only a discipline, but also a way of life. The love of wisdom in philosophy seems to contain the wisdom of loving life. As far as education is concerned, it is inseparable from life. Education is life, and life is education. Therefore, philosophy, like education, is of great significance for us to create the beauty and happiness of life. what do you think?
