Jiangsu Traffic Technician College was founded in 1978 by the merger of Jiangsu Automobile Technician School and Zhenjiang Traffic Workers Technical School. It is the first key technician college in the national transportation system to train high-skilled talents. The college is affiliated to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transportation and is a full-time institution. 1997 was rated as the national key technical school by the Ministry of Labor. In 2007, it was rated as the first batch of key technician colleges in Jiangsu Province by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. 20 10 was rated as a national-level transportation vocational education demonstration college by the Ministry of Transport.
