1. What is a "nerd"?
Tao: A bookworm is a person who studies without a purpose. A book is a tool that can only be used for reading. Ancient poetry: everything is inferior, only reading is high. Zhu Zigui is full of scholars. If books should be read, everyone should have books to read. Never let some people have books to read, that's called "scholars"; Some people who don't read books are called "people who don't read". For example, rice is for people, some people can't have food, and some people can't have food. Reading without doing anything else is just like a bookworm, a bookworm, and a git who only eats.
2. What is true knowledge and what is false knowledge?
Tao: True knowledge is knowledge produced by the combination of thought and behavior. True knowledge is insight rooted in experience, sprouting from experience and blooming. There are two kinds of pseudo-knowledge: one is fundamental error, which is inconsistent with the facts. Second, I don't know what I think, but I really don't know. Someone told him, but he has no experience and doesn't understand what others say. This is also false knowledge.
2017.1.18 "Teaching-Learning-Doing Textbooks"
Life is education. A good life is a good education; A bad life is a bad education. Education without life as the center is dead education, schools without life as the center are dead schools, and books without life as the center are dead books. People fooling around in dead education, dead schools and dead books are all dead-teachers die first, students learn to die! The country caused by learning to die first is a dead country, and the world caused is a dead world!
The integration of teaching and learning is the explanation of life phenomenon, that is, the explanation of education phenomenon. In life, doing things means learning for your own progress and teaching for your own influence. The combination of teaching and learning is the law of life and education. The method of teaching is based on learning, and the method of learning is based on doing. Learn to do things and teach to learn. Teaching and learning are centered on doing. Teachers teach while doing, and students learn while doing. "Doing" means working hard at work.
Basic attitude towards books in life education and teaching. Life education guides us to say: what books to use in life; What books do you use to do things? Books are tools, tools for life and tools for doing things. China's textbooks focus on words, but they don't include the best words. A good textbook can guide the power of human action; Whether there is the power to guide people to think; Whether there is the power to guide people to generate new value. The common problem of education is to teach people who use their brains not to use their hands, and not to teach people who use their hands to use their brains.

Anyone who studies education should know Tao Xingzhi, whose original name is Wen Tao Zhuo. During his college years, he popularized Wang Yangming's theory and named it "the unity of knowledge and action". At the age of 43, he published an article "Knowing and Doing" in Life Education, arguing that "doing is the beginning of knowing, and knowing is the success of doing" and renamed it Tao Xingzhi.
Tao Xingzhi 19 14 studied in the United States and obtained a master's degree in political science from the University of Illinois. 19 15 went to Columbia university to study education, studied under Dewey, and was a fellow villager and classmate with Hu Shi. Fei Zhengqing, a famous sinologist, once commented: "The most creative student of Dr. Dewey is Tao Xingzhi" and "Tao Xingzhi is Dewey's student, but he faced up to China's problems and surpassed Dewey".
The four core propositions of Dewey's educational thought: education is life, school is society, being a middle school, education has no purpose. Three core propositions of Tao Xingzhi's educational thought: life is education, society is school, and teaching is integrated. Once I thought it was just a question of word order, but there were a lot of articles.
Today, I read four articles on the Essence of Education, mainly to explain the problem that "doing is the beginning of knowing, and knowing is the success of doing". The famous German philosopher karl theodor jaspers wrote in What is Education? "The essence of education is that a tree shakes another tree, a cloud pushes another cloud, and a soul awakens another soul." Tao Xingzhi also said similar views when discussing that teaching and doing are the same thing: do things, learn for your own progress, and teach for others. Our common misunderstanding of education is that we talk about teaching with our mouths, listen to learning with our ears, and do it with our hands. There are three sources of knowledge: personal knowledge, listening and speaking knowledge and oral knowledge. Personal knowledge comes from personal experience, heard knowledge comes from books and others, and spoken knowledge is inferred knowledge. Almost all schools attach importance to and teach knowledge, because knowledge is the most convenient source of all knowledge. Can teaching, learning and doing be integrated in this way? Can you awaken the soul or influence others? If we understand Tao Xingzhi's viewpoint of unity of knowledge and action and look back at the students' learning effect, we may understand a thing or two.
