At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, Cen Chunxuan, Governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, donated Yanshan Garden to run a school. Guangxi Normal University, Guangxi University and Guangxi Agricultural College have successively established their schools here. Yanshan Garden, the birthplace of higher education in Guangxi, has always been a sacred place for books.

Guangxi Provincial Teachers College is the first higher normal school in Guangxi. Founded in 1932, 10, 12, the school is located in Yanshan, Guilin. Today, the cornerstone of Guangxi Normal University is embedded in the building wall beside the waterside pavilion of Yanshan Park. Since then, it has been renamed six times, relocated eight times and adjusted four times.

They have set up party and government training institutes and scout training institutes to train political cadres for their own use. The establishment of Guangxi Normal University is also an important measure for the New Guangxi Department to train New Deal talents. Although this school is called Teachers College, it is not only to train middle school teachers, but also to meet the needs of Guangxi authorities' so-called "implementing the New Deal and appointing new people". The enrollment brochure of Guangxi Normal University clearly States: "It aims to train middle school education administrators and middle school teachers." They believe that only when a group of political backbones who serve themselves faithfully master the educational power in the four major constructions of "people, finance, education and construction" can they successfully implement their political programs. Guangxi Provincial Teachers College was born in the increasingly severe national crisis, and also in the gap between Guangxi and centralization. Although it didn't exist for a long time, its school spirit and the students it trained later had a considerable effect and influence in Guangxi.

1in the spring of 932, the Guangxi provincial government appointed Mr. Tang Xianzhi as the preparatory director of Guangxi Teachers College. Tang Xianzhi, a native of Guanyang County, Guangxi, graduated from Nanjing Normal University and has been engaged in education for many years. He had a certain position and reputation in Guangxi education at that time. Influenced by Mr. Tao Xingzhi's early educational thoughts, he advocated productive education and education to save the country. In his view, China is weak only because the people are poor, stupid, weak and selfish, and the fundamental solution is to do a good job in education. He requires students to have the skills of farmers, scientific minds and the spirit of missionaries. Therefore, he made a school emblem with the word "Tian" as the pattern for Guangxi Provincial Teachers College, and he only wanted to turn Guangxi Provincial Teachers College into Nanjing Xiaozhuang Normal School. Tang Xianzhi was honest, had a sense of justice and was dissatisfied with the social reality at that time. However, influenced by bourgeois democratic thoughts, he did not advocate students' participation in social and political activities and the transformation of China by revolutionary means.

Mr. Tang Xianzhi presided over Guangxi Normal University from the beginning of its preparation to the first enrollment. The first enrollment 120 students, starting in September 1932. The target of enrollment was originally young men and women who graduated from high school or had the equivalent education in high school and served in primary school for more than two years. However, due to the lack of high school graduates in Guangxi at that time, many young people yearned for further study in Guangxi University or outside the province. Most of the students admitted to Guangxi Provincial Teachers College are rural youths who have been primary school teachers and have poor families. They are generally older and have certain social experience.

Shortly after the opening of Guangxi Normal University, the Guangxi provincial government hired Yang Dongpu as the principal. At the grand opening ceremony of the school in the middle of May 438+10, Li Renren, director of the Education Department of Guangxi Provincial Government, solemnly announced the appointment of the provincial government and personally handed a school seal wrapped in HongLing to Yang Dongkui to show his trust and support.

From 1943 to 1978, Guilin Normal University is the only university in Guangxi that trains teachers with bachelor degree.

1In the autumn of 946, the Central Ministry of Education decided to move Guilin Teachers College to Nanning. 1949 was renamed as National Nanning Teachers College in April. 1950 In February, the National Nanning Teachers College moved back to Guilin from Nanning, merged into Guangxi University again, and established Guangxi University Teachers College (hereinafter referred to as the College of Culture and Education).
