Nantong University was founded in 19 12, which originated from the private Nantong Medical College and Nantong Textile Institute founded by Mr. Zhang Jian, a famous industrialist and educator in modern times. In 2004, the former Nantong Medical College, Nantong Institute of Technology and Nantong Teachers College merged to form the new Nantong University.

The school is a comprehensive university jointly established by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province and the Ministry of Transport. The Jiangsu Provincial High-level University Construction Summit plans to build universities. It ranks 108 in "202 1 China University Evaluation" of Chinese Academy of Management Sciences, 1 15 in the comprehensive ranking of ESI China University, and 33rd in the ranking of outstanding medical alumni trained by China University in 2020.

There are 20 colleges under the school, 1 Independent College (Xinglin College), 1 Large-scale comprehensive 3A Hospital (Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University), College of International Education and College of Continuing Education.

Cooperation and communication:

The school has extensively carried out overseas exchanges and cooperation, established friendly and cooperative relations with 127 universities and research institutes in the United States, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Russia, Australia, Japan, South Korea and other countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions, and carried out cooperative exchange projects such as running schools, cooperative scientific research, teacher-student exchanges and teacher training.

A number of Sino-foreign cooperative education projects have been jointly organized with universities such as the University of Adelaide and Macquarie in Australia and the "R. Franzi" Conservatory of Music in Siena, Italy.
