What two kinds of education were there in the Tang Dynasty?
Education in the Tang Dynasty can be roughly divided into two categories: official learning and private learning, in which official learning includes central official learning and local official learning, while private learning mainly includes family learning and running schools to teach students. The main institutions of the central official school in Tang Dynasty were imperial academy, Hong Wen Pavilion and Chongwen Pavilion. Local educational institutions are mainly government, state and county schools.
