Confucius said that sex is similar and learning is far away. Mencius said that human nature is good and Xunzi said that human nature is evil. Confucius just said that human nature is similar, almost the same, but the gap has widened because of the nurture and teaching. But here Mencius thinks that human nature is good, and Xunzi thinks that inherent vice is a matter of opinion.
3. Mencius' theory of good nature refers to people's compassion, that is, Mencius' compassion, shame, right and wrong, and resignation. Enlarging this point of human nature is what Mencius called good nature. Therefore, everyone has the potential to become a saint.
Xunzi doesn't think so. He believes that human nature should be divided into two parts: sex is innate and falsehood is learned the day after tomorrow. "Sex, this material is very simple. Fake people, art and science flourish. Asexual love is false, without which sex cannot be self-beautiful. Sex is false, and then it becomes the name of a saint. " Therefore, it is necessary to change and become a saint through accumulated learning the day after tomorrow.
Both Meng Xun emphasized the importance of education, and Meng Zi emphasized that education is to maintain and carry forward people's kindness. The main idea of Xunzi's theory of evil nature is not to criticize human nature, but to emphasize the importance of education. It laid the foundation for his etiquette education, and education and learning played a crucial role in the transformation of human nature from evil to good. We should combine other aspects of Xunzi's thought to understand his theory of evil nature, so as to make an objective evaluation.
