South-Central University for Nationalities is located at Minzu Avenue 182, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. It is a university directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China, and ranks among the qualified universities such as "Building a First-class University in China", "High-level Talents Program for Ethnic Minorities", National Model University for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform, and Planetary Science Alliance of China University.

This university is jointly established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Education, China Academy of Sciences, Hubei Provincial People's Government and Wuhan Municipal People's Government.
