Hangzhou Radio and TV University (Hangzhou Community University) is an institution of higher learning sponsored by the Hangzhou Municipal Government and featuring modern distance and open education. Since its establishment more than 20 years ago, the school has always adhered to the party's educational policy and made great progress. The school includes school-based level (with three campuses), six urban teaching points and seven county (district, city) TV universities. The existing teaching land at the school level is 160 mu, the school building area is 68,000 square meters, and the total fixed assets are more than 90 million yuan. The school has a group of teachers and technicians with rich teaching experience in distance education. The school has advanced and perfect modern teaching equipment such as teaching, experiment, audio-visual education, pronunciation and distance education. The school invested nearly 20 million yuan to implement the modern distance education project, and established a Gigabit Ethernet network center and audio-visual education center with multi-channel closed-circuit television broadcasting function, a multimedia courseware production system for teaching, a modern audio-visual reading room and distance learning room, a 7 1 two-way video multimedia classroom, and a computer room with 1 650 computers and the Internet. Six sets of satellite receiving equipment have been set up, and the internet, provincial education network, power-saving broadband private network and CCTV's "RTVU online distribution" teaching platform have been opened, forming a complete distance education network reaching seven counties (cities, districts) in Hangzhou. This school has been expanding in size. Up to now, undergraduate and specialist education has been set up in China Central Radio and TV University, Power Saving University, Tsinghua University (Tongfang) online education, Zhejiang University distance education, China Renmin University distance education, Xi Jiaotong University distance education, Southeast University distance education, Shanghai International Studies University distance education, Sichuan University online education, and other disciplines. At the same time of holding adult higher education, the school has continuously enrolled 16 ordinary junior college students, trained nearly 50,000 undergraduate and junior college students, and trained more than 500,000 people in vocational and technical education and job training.

Under the new situation, the higher authorities pay more attention to the development of the school and give full play to its advantages in running a school. Now the school is "seven certificates in one", which was established as "Hangzhou Distance Education Center" and "Hangzhou Lifelong Education Base" by the municipal government in 2000. In May 2002, it was approved by the Central Radio and TV University as the "Continuing Education Base of the Central Radio and TV University". June, 5438+October, 2003 10, with the approval of the Municipal Organization Committee, the brand of "Hangzhou Community College" was added. In March, 2003, the first batch was allowed to join the Distance Open Education Center, and the Hangzhou Learning Center for Distance Open Education was established.
