What school was Guogao in the period of Manchukuo in Northeast China?
In the period of Manchukuo in Northeast China, Guogao refers to the Puppet Manchukuo National High School, which was established by the Puppet Manchukuo government to train senior intellectuals. Its predecessor was the Puppet Manchukuo National Central Normal School, which was renamed as 1937. During the period of 1937- 1945, the school opened branches in Changchun, Harbin, Jilin, Mudanjiang and Jiamusi.

During the puppet Manchukuo period, Guogao became an important place for Japanese invaders to train senior officials and high-quality talents in Manchukuo. Students need to receive Japanese-style education and indoctrination, learn Japanese culture and history, as well as knowledge about "Manchukuo". At the same time, the school also requires students to abide by strict disciplines and regulations, including wearing school uniforms and getting up early to pay homage.

Among the students studying in national high schools, many later became senior officials and celebrities of the puppet Manchukuo government. However, some students later opposed the puppet Manchukuo government and took an active part in the anti-Japanese movement and revolutionary activities.

After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, Guogao was dissolved and gradually evolved into high school attached to northeast normal university and other schools. However, as a historical fragment, the existence and influence of Guogao still exist in some people's memories.
