This paper will introduce three old eight schools, three new eight schools and a new fourth army in the field of architecture to help readers better understand these institutions.

Laobaxiao

The Eighth Old School refers to the eight founding institutions of architectural education in China, namely Nanjing University of Technology, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Tongji University, Xi Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology and the Department of Architecture of South China University of Technology.

Xinbaxiao

The New Eighth School refers to eight emerging institutions of architectural education in China, namely, School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, School of Architecture of Southeast University, School of Architecture and Engineering of Harbin Engineering University, School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Chongqing University, School of Architecture of Southwest Jiaotong University, School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, School of Architecture of Henan University and School of Architecture of Chang 'an University.

New Fourth Army

The New Fourth Army refers to an army in the period of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in China, which was led by China and founded in 1937. The Engineering College of the New Fourth Army is a military engineering college of the New Fourth Army, located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.
