The map of the world was written by Comenius. World Illustration is an illustrated Chinese textbook for primary schools written by Czech educator Comenius in17th century.

World illustration, also known as the visible world and the wonders of the universe, is called "the originator of children's inserting books" in the history of western education. Its greatest feature is the combination of learning mother tongue and Latin characters with looking at pictures, which embodies the teaching principle of intuition.

World Pictorial has 150 illustrations, all hand-painted by Comenius. The content of illustrations involves nature (including the universe, geography, animals and plants and human structure), social life (including the state, church and family), production activities (including agricultural production, handicraft production, transportation), culture and art, and so on.

The second half of each illustration is described in two languages, one is the national language and the other is the Latin language. In order to make it easier for children to compare the two languages, Comenius also skillfully uses digital correspondence to connect the words and pictures on each page of the world map.

The specific method is to label every two Chinese characters and Latin characters with the same meaning with the same number, and at the same time label the objects in the picture with the same number, so that the relationship between words and words, words and pictures will be clear at a glance. World Pictorial was published in German and Latin on 1658.

This book, called "Little Encyclopedia", was later translated into many languages and was well received by European and American educators. The world map attracts and educates generations of children with its intuitive, vivid and interesting characteristics.
