In the past few decades, the morning reading mode of children mechanically reciting texts in the morning has aroused the opposition of most people. Subsequently, alternative courses such as Bible reading movement and English morning reading came into being. According to the new educational experiment, the main purpose of morning reading is not to remember the knowledge that may be used in the future, not to strengthen memory training, but to enrich children's present life. It is to cultivate a lifestyle that dances with the dawn, to learn and appreciate the beautiful mother tongue, and to feel the gratitude, grace and sense of music conveyed by poetry through morning reading. Therefore, the morning recitation developed by the new educational experiment is a compound course combining classical poetry, children's songs, children's poetry and morning recitation. Beautiful words and phrases, which children can feel, understand and convey the beautiful wishes and feelings of human beings when reciting, are the three basic characteristics of morning reading in new education. The new educational experiment has officially published six volumes of Reading China Classics, and is further compiling morning reading that can better reflect the above ideas.

Can a book "Education of Love" really be suitable for all students in grade 1-6? Besides, many children like reading materials. Are they really suitable for children to grow up? Even though we have the most scientific bibliography, if we want different children to read effectively at different ages, we will still think about how to start reading activities.

In order to solve the above problems, since 2006, the new education experiment has carried out the project "Caterpillar and Butterfly-Step Reading Research for Newly Educated Children". The caterpillar and butterfly project believes that children of different ages can read relatively limited children's books because of the limitation of psychological development stage. We should find books that children of all ages can read from a large number of children's books.

The caterpillar and butterfly project believes that living in different languages means living in different worlds; Reading together is creation, with a common language and password. Co-reading is really living with people who read the same book. Therefore, the new educational experiment advocates parent-child reading and class reading. Reading a book together and writing a sincere paragraph can help us realize the real common life between teachers and students, parents and children, classmates, and even teachers and parents. Since the beginning of the experiment, a large number of touching stories have happened through reading together, which has improved countless parent-child, teacher-student and home-school relationships and made everyone truly feel a happy and complete educational life. In a sense, the new educational experiment takes restoring the tradition of cooperative reading as a breakthrough to improve education.

In the experiment, this kind of targeted reading shows a very obvious "therapeutic effect". There is a first-grade student in Loufeng No.2 Primary School. He didn't say a word during kindergarten. When he entered the school, he got a zero. After a month of reading, writing and painting activities, he suddenly told his mother a complete story and began to draw very beautiful children's paintings (including story lines), and his academic performance reached the qualified level. Moreover, almost all the children in the children's book experiment have consciously started to stay away from TV and games, and their whole mental outlook has been greatly improved.

The caterpillar and butterfly project also believes that education is both awakening and giving. We believe that every life is a magical seed, which contains unknown mysteries. Reading can awaken this beauty and magic. At the same time, we also believe that education is a kind of giving. Whether it is the characteristics of national culture or the value of universal civilization, teachers and parents need to pass it on to their children slowly through reading and stories according to the law of life growth. On the basis of fully considering the characteristics of national culture and Chinese language, we take more than 20 motifs of human culture and core civilization values as the "keywords" for selecting children's books and stories to read together. It can be said that every children's book, especially common reading, is in the form of a story, which perfectly embodies one or several core values of civilization. The study of children's ladder reading is to find the most suitable children's book for every child at the moment; At every moment of their growth, there must be the most suitable children's book at this moment. These carefully selected books will tell them peace, respect, love, tolerance, optimism, responsibility, cooperation, modesty, honesty, simplicity, freedom, unity, concentration, imagination, tranquility, courage, awe, enthusiasm, piety, gratitude, discipline and reflection with beautiful stories ... They will weave a beautiful net to take care of the children.

The caterpillar and butterfly project not only respects the order of children's growth, such as putting the story of God after fairy tales, history and heroes after myths, and natural knowledge after imaginary knowledge, but also attaches importance to the teaching of national literature characteristics. In order to endow national culture with its own characteristics, we first established a sequence of China myths, followed by Greek and Hebrew myths. For the same purpose, we will also develop local picture books in China (including myths, folk stories, Buddhist and Taoist stories, stories of heroes and celebrities, etc.). ).

Sunset province refers to students' essays and diaries, through which teachers and students weave meaningful lives with each other. Keeping a diary to record growth, encouraging and comforting each other with words between parents and children, teachers and students, has become an important part of the new educational experiment and daily life style.

At the beginning of the experiment, students' compositions have obvious writing tendency. The experimental teacher evaluates students' compositions according to their requirements, but does not regard them as a way of living together. With the improvement of the experiment, more and more teachers began to consciously guide students to take composition and diary as a way of life, and began to participate in the growth of students, using teachers and students to write compositions to lead children to independence and maturity. And students' compositions are gradually enriched into various forms, such as spiritual monologues (confidential diaries), mutual trust (common diaries), observation diaries, classroom discussion diaries, fairy tale literary creation and so on. In the lower class, this kind of writing is combined with parents and painting and writing.

Reciting in the morning, reading in the afternoon and reflecting at dusk make education return to a simple whole, which is not only a supplement to the subject curriculum, but also a correction to the prematurely refined subject curriculum.
