Introduction to Weber
Max Weber (1864- 1920) was born in Germany. He used to be a professor, government consultant and editor, and he has considerable attainments in sociology, religion, economics and political science. Weber's main works include Protestant Ethics and the Spirit of Capitalism, General Economic History, Social and Economic Organization Theory and so on. Among them, the theory of bureaucratic mode (that is, the theory of administrative organization) has the most far-reaching influence on later generations. Some people even call him, Dackheim and Marx the three "secular gods" of sociology. The historical background of Weber's administrative organization theory is the key period for German enterprises to change from small-scale hereditary management to large-scale specialized management. Understanding Weber's thought is more practical. Weber, Taylor and Fa Yueer are known as the "fathers of organization theory" and are the three pioneers of western classical management theory.
