Hunan Province (hereinafter referred to as "Xiang") is the provincial administrative region of People's Republic of China (PRC) (China), with Changsha as its capital and 24 38 ′ ~ 30 08 ′ north latitude and 65 438+008 47 ′ ~ 65 438+065 438+04 438+east longitude.

Hunan is located in the transition zone from Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to Jiangnan hills and Nanling Mountains to Jianghan Plain. It is a horseshoe-shaped landform surrounded by mountains on three sides and open to the north. It is composed of plains, basins, hills, mountains and lakes, spanning the Yangtze River and the Pearl River, and belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate.

Location context

Hunan province is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and most provinces are south of Dongting Lake, so it is called Hunan. Xiangjiang river runs through the north and south of the province, so it is called Xiang for short. Located between108 47' ~1415' east longitude and 24 38' ~ 30 08' north latitude, Mufu Mountain and Wugong Mountain border Jiangxi in the east. The western part of Guizhou is connected with the eastern edge of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. In the northwest, Wuling Mountain is adjacent to Chongqing; Nanzhen Nanling is adjacent to Guangdong and Guangxi.

To the north, the lakeside plain borders Hubei. The provincial boundary is east to Huang Lianping, Guidong County, west to xinhuang dong autonomous county Jiucaitang, south to Guposhan, Jianghua Yao Autonomous County, and north to Hupingshan, Shimen County. It is 667 kilometers wide from east to west and 774 kilometers long from north to south.
