During the two sessions of 1 and 1998 in Suzhou, some NPC deputies and CPPCC members suggested building a new Suzhou museum. 2.1On June 20th, 999, Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture submitted a report on the construction of the new Suzhou Museum to the municipal government, and decided to build the Suzhou Museum. 3.1June, 1999, the site selection was started, and the site selection demonstration took four years. In June, 20001,the head of the cultural planning department of our city went to Beijing to attend the completion ceremony of the headquarters building of China Bank at the invitation of Mr. I.M. Pei, and was entrusted by the municipal government to design the new Suzhou Museum. 5. On April 30, 2002, Mr. I.M. Pei led Mr. Bei Lizhong, the chairman of Mr. I.M. Pei's architectural firm, and his party of six people to the Soviet Union, signed a design agreement with the Suzhou Municipal Government, and met with academicians of China Academy of Sciences, Academy of Engineering Wu, Qian Zhou Zhi, cultural relics expert Luo, celebrities and cultural experts in Suzhou cultural and art circles, exchanged views on the design of the new museum, and made a field trip. 6. On May 30th, 2002, Suzhou Development Planning Commission approved the establishment of the new Suzhou Pavilion project. On June 23rd, 2003, National Cultural Heritage Administration approved the construction of the new Suzhou Museum. 7. On August 6th, 2003-12, the design scheme of the new building was publicized to solicit public opinions. On August 25th, 2003, Suzhou Development Planning Commission approved the preliminary design scheme of the new building project, and determined the estimated budget of 338,798,900 yuan. 9. On June 5th, 2003, the foundation stone was laid for the new Suzhou Museum. Zhang Xinsheng, Vice Minister of Education and Director of China Committee of UNESCO, Zheng, Vice Minister of Culture, Liang, Governor of Jiangsu Province and I.M. Pei attended the groundbreaking ceremony. 10, the 28th World Heritage Committee meeting held in Suzhou on July 5th, 2004 officially approved the new Suzhou Museum project. 1 1, May 6, 2005-May 4, 2004 14 I.M. Pei came to Suzhou for the third time to carry out the construction of the new Subo building, inspected the model houses of the new building on the spot, and finally determined the architectural style of the new Subo building. 12, from April 25th to May 3rd, 2006, I.M. Pei came to Suzhou for the fourth time to discuss the interior decoration and display layout of the new building. 13 On September 22nd, 2006, I.M. Pei came to Suzhou for the fifth time to guide the preparation work before the opening of the new building. 14, 2006 16 The new Suzhou Museum was officially opened.
