Sanmenxia Henan University of Science and Technology was recognized. It is a university jointly established by the National Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the People's Government of Henan Province. It is a key university supported by the national basic capacity building project for universities in the central and western regions, a national demonstration university for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, one of the three key comprehensive universities in Henan Province, a national continuing education base for professional and technical personnel, and a governing university of the Silk Road University Alliance.

1952 was established in the capital Beijing. 1956, in order to meet the needs of the construction and layout of the national industrial base, it was moved to Luoyang, and later renamed Luoyang Institute of Technology, which belongs to the Ministry of Machinery Industry. 1998, transferred to Henan province for management.

In 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the Henan Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government merged Luoyang Institute of Technology, Luoyang Medical College and Luoyang Agricultural College to form Henan University of Science and Technology.
