What do you think is the purpose of education?

"The purpose of education is to let children realize their parents' ideals. "In the book" Why does the family hurt people ",the educational purpose of some parents is like this. Children's thoughts and interests are ignored, causing various psychological problems for children.

? How does Dewey think about the purpose of education?

Dewey discussed the purpose of education from the essence of education.

1. Education should promote people's inner growth.

This is Dewey's theory. Education is growth without purpose. No purpose here does not mean no purpose, but no external purpose. The purpose of education is intrinsic, respecting children and taking children's growth as the educational purpose.

2. Education should adapt to children's present life.

Education should serve the development of democratic society and the construction of democratic system.

Education does not mean that it develops independently, regardless of society. Education has a social purpose, and personal development and social progress are unified.

It embodies life, timeliness, immanence and democracy.
