When the Art College of Daqing Petroleum Institute was founded on September 9, 2005, the Music Department was one of the first three departments. In 2006, full-time undergraduate students were enrolled.

There are 36 teachers in the Music Department, including 3 professors, 7 associate professors, 7 lecturers, 7 teaching assistants and 3 provincial academic leaders.

The Music Department has five teaching and research sections for theory, keyboard, orchestral music, vocal music and pop music, and a piano room management department. There are 120 piano rooms with complete teaching and practice functions.

At present, there are two major research directions in the music department: vocal music and instrumental music. After four years of systematic training, students have good artistic and cultural qualities and can engage in singing, performance, music creation, teaching and research in related fields.

Dance Department was one of the first three departments when the Art College of Daqing Petroleum Institute was established on September 9, 2005. In 2006, full-time undergraduate students were enrolled.

The dance department has 17 teachers. Among them, there are 2 senior titles, 3 deputy senior titles, 4 lecturers, 8 teaching assistants and 2 provincial academic leaders. There are three teaching and research sections: basic training, folk dance and steel partner. There are 8 dance classrooms and 2 teaching practice places, with complete multimedia teaching facilities and complete teaching practice functions.

At present, the dance department has the research direction of dance choreography.
