Lida's former residence was built in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. 1938, when Li Da returned to his hometown to live, he personally designed and transformed the front window of the south bedroom of the main room, changed the original lattice structure, expanded the lattice area, increased the brightness of indoor light, and also incorporated Li Da's own wisdom, which made the building have the style of the times and the decorative characteristics of combining Chinese and Western styles in some components.

1988, Lida people funded the maintenance of two houses, the back wall of the main hall and the north wing. 1990, in order to commemorate the centenary of Li Da's birth, the former Lengshuitan Municipal People's Government allocated special funds to repair the former residence, and opened the "Life Story Exhibition Room of Comrade Li Da" in the former residence to display some of Li Da's relics, manuscripts and related historical photos.

From 2000 to 2003, a leading group for the maintenance of Lida's former residence was established in Lengshuitan District, and the former residence was completely renovated according to the principle of "repairing the old as before and keeping the original appearance". At the same time, enrich the exhibition content, improve the exhibition conditions and build a road leading to the former residence.

Li Da (1890- 1966), a great representative of the Communist Party of China (CPC), is a member of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of China Academy of Sciences and a philosopher.
