Farewell is a song written by Li Shutong on 19 15. The tune is taken from the American song Dreaming of Home and Mother composed by John Pond Ordway. 1936, EMI released the solo recording of Long Xun, a primary school student attached to Beijing Normal University. This version was later included in the album "Centennial Classics 1: Autumn Waters" published by China Records in 2004.

Farewell has been selected as an episode in films such as Early February and Old Stories in the South of the City. On September 30th, 2004, "Farewell" was selected by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Central Civilization Office as "100 patriotic education songs" to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC).
