The Educational Model of Shanghai Singapore International School

There are no fewer than 25 international schools in Shanghai, which are run by Singaporeans. Walking into the Singapore International School in Minhang District, a suburb of Shanghai, feels like entering a small United Nations. Look around, blond, dark and white, and occasionally hear the babbling of an incomprehensible language. It turned out that a group of Korean students or African children got together to chat.

It is not uncommon for international schools to recruit foreign students, but in this Singapore international school, foreign children Marek Cheng and Wen Zhenbin account for a full 80%. Only 20% are Singaporean students.

More and more foreigners living in Shanghai regard Singapore International School as their first choice. President Zhang summed up the four characteristics of high quality of the school: bilingual teaching, subject teaching, extracurricular activities and reasonable tuition.

In terms of tutorial classes, the mode and content provided by the school are closely linked to the system in Singapore, ensuring that Singaporean students can smoothly integrate into mainstream education after returning to China. From primary school, we focused on the solid foundation of Chinese and English, mathematics and science, and then in middle school, we were divided into three departments: literature, science and engineering. Both primary and secondary schools attach great importance to supplementary activities and implement the purpose of comprehensive education in Singapore.
