The history of postgraduate education in Sun Yat-sen University began in the 1920s. 1935 In the spring, Sun Yat-sen University, Tsinghua University and Peking University formally established graduate schools with the approval of the then Ministry of Education, which was the earliest institution in China to establish graduate schools. By 1948, 56 graduate students have been trained. After the founding of New China, the graduate education of Sun Yat-sen University has been developing continuously, from 1949 to 1967, and a total of 177 graduate students have been trained. Since the reform and opening up, Sun Yat-sen University is one of the earliest universities in China to resume postgraduate education.
1986, with the approval of the State Council, our school formally established a graduate school. After the merger of Sun Yat-sen University and Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences, the discipline system of postgraduate education in New Sun Yat-sen University is more perfect, covering philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, etc.1.
