Students like all kinds of sports in college, except ball games, track and field events and water sports, as well as skiing, equestrian, western sword, gymnastics and other activities. In addition, the university also has student associations such as drama, symphony orchestra, choir, media, bridge art and chess.

There are 34 university fraternities in Heidelberg, most of which were founded in19th century. On formal occasions, members of the fraternity will wear ribbons and hats, and some brothels require members to dance swords. From 19 to the beginning of the 20th century, fraternity played an important role in students' life, but it is not popular for students to join clubs nowadays.
