This book gave me a lot of inspiration and thinking:
We often say that it is better to teach people to fish than to teach them to fish. But in the actual process of education and teaching, these are two common opposing guiding ideology. Direct teaching and full-time irrigation in knowledge teaching have been widely criticized and unpopular; Experiential and heuristic teaching modes have been widely used. However, due to the pressure of exams and further studies, our education and teaching often have to take the form of direct teaching and full-time irrigation. For example, in the teaching of English grammar, our students mainly rely on the teacher's teaching in class and master grammar knowledge through a lot of repeated exercises. In fact, we all know that language is instrumental and communicative, and that grammar is for students to experience slowly in life. However, the current examination system in China makes it impossible for students to acquire grammar knowledge of a foreign language or mother tongue through "slow experience" in life. Therefore, our teachers have to adopt the methods of direct teaching and full-time irrigation. In my future English teaching, I think I will try my best to make students achieve "four liberations": 1, to liberate students' eyes and let them learn to observe by themselves; 2. Emancipate students' brains and let them learn to think independently; 3. Free students' hands and let them learn to operate by themselves; 4. Liberate students' mouths and let them learn to express themselves.
China's education tends to be "practice makes perfect" and "diligence makes up for mistakes", and the goal of success is to cultivate students' perseverance and develop their intelligence, while foreign countries attach great importance to cultivating students' self-confidence through education, so that they can find a way suitable for their own characteristics. From this perspective, successful education abroad has a broader vision and pays more attention to humanized education. Although China's current education and teaching also pays more attention to cultivating students' motivation and interest in studying in class, it is more for entrance exams and does not really consider students' long-term development. We often talk about quality education, but how much is the real quality education? In the future teaching, I will try my best to stimulate students' interest, teach students the methods of exploring knowledge, let them try and enjoy the joy of success.
The book "International Vision of Education" makes me reflect on the current education and my own work from a brand-new perspective, and there are many advanced educational concepts worth learning from. We take textbooks as the world and others take the world as textbooks. Primary and secondary education in developed countries not only allows schools to face the society and let students understand the society, but also constantly turns what is happening in the world and the problems they face into the teaching content of schools. An important content of the urgent need for reform in China's basic education is that classroom teaching should strengthen the connection between "textbook world" and "life world", liberate students from textbooks and expand their horizons from the narrow "textbook world" to the broad "life world".
After reading this book, I deeply feel that educators should think about education from the perspective of the world with a high sense of responsibility, start from themselves and really do some exploration for education.
