Houhai primary school develops school-based topics according to the actual situation of the school, and combines educational research with school education and teaching. President Yuan Xiaofeng is a practitioner and leader of educational research. He insists on leading teachers to study and study in educational and teaching actions, to study and solve problems in educational and teaching, to integrate teaching and research, and to regard action research as the best way for teachers' professional development.
The school has also formulated the direction of teachers' sustainable development from the height of humanistic care and adopted a series of effective methods to promote teachers' professional growth. In 2004, school-based training became a beautiful landscape on campus. The school has not only formed a learning team that keeps forging ahead for the common ideal, but also radiated outward, training a large number of teachers for friendly schools. According to incomplete statistics, there are 12 teachers in this school who have been invited to participate in the new curriculum standard Chinese textbook and the Teacher's Teaching Book compiled by People's Education Publishing House. Participate in the compilation of Guangdong textbook "Morality and Life"; Received more than 30 lectures on curriculum reform training in districts, cities, provinces and all parts of the country, more than 40 demonstration teaching in various disciplines, more than 50 observation and study by peers at home and abroad, and 5 teachers working in other schools; Six teachers participated in the compilation and teaching of the PEP classroom script supported by the Ministry of Education, and three teachers' classroom record CDs were distributed nationwide with the Chinese teaching books of People's Education Publishing House. In the spirit of scientific research, Houhai Primary School also investigated and analyzed the relevant situation and decided to take "creative education" as the main school-based curriculum. The implementation of this course has greatly promoted the development of students' creativity and achieved fruitful results.
In September 2004, the Happy Reading Project of Houhai Primary School was started. Children-oriented, interest-oriented, through telling stories, watching pictures and expanding activities, improve students' comprehensive ability of Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing. While cultivating students' Chinese ability, picture books can be used to improve students' personality, character and aesthetic ability. So far, students have created more than 500 picture books, of which more than 30 have been published in newspapers and magazines. In March 2007, the first picture book teaching work in China, Reading Picture Books-Leading Children to Grow Happily, was written by teachers in Houhai Primary School, and the first picture books created by children in China, I am the Best and Little Mouse Ruyi, were created by students in Houhai Primary School.
