The history of the Institute of Education (SOE) can be traced back to the Teachers' College in 1909, which was formally established in 2007. After its establishment, the College quickly became the leading institution of American education reform. The Institute of Education has two campuses, one in the building of the Institute of Education in Baltimore and the other in columbia center. There is no public transportation between the two campuses, but students need to travel to and from the two campuses. The off-peak driving time between the two campuses is about 35 minutes.

The master's degree, doctor's degree and certificate courses in the College of Education cover a wide range of fields, including teacher preparation, counseling, special education, school leadership, educational technology and so on. SOE has been certified by the Educator Accreditation Committee (CAEP was formerly NCATE). All projects will be approved by the Maryland Department of Education.
