First, the status quo of left-behind children and the causes of this situation
We know that children's education needs the joint efforts of families, schools and even society, but left-behind children lack a crucial educational factor-family education.
Parents go out to work for a long time, which makes the family education of left-behind children seriously absent. Many parents give their children to grandparents, just to meet their living needs, but ignore their real psychological needs. In the long run, the behavior, mental health, personality and intellectual development and academic performance of left-behind children will be affected. As we all know, parents are children's first teachers, and family education plays a key role in the development of personal character and behavior, while the custody of left-behind children falls on the grandparents of the next generation, thus forming unreasonable intergenerational education. Most elderly people only care about their children's food, clothing, housing, transportation and life safety, as long as they can give their children a job to their parents when they come back. More elderly people think that their children can be given to them. Children's parents are not around, and they often say that children are pitiful. His parents went out to work when he was 5 years old, so they gave their children more love than they deserved. If any children bully their precious grandchildren, they will be educated. If your parents are not around, you can't be too weak. Next time someone bullies you, don't show weakness. In this way, children's thoughts and behaviors have entered a misunderstanding. If it is not stopped and corrected in time, it is likely to lead to a big mistake. At the same time, the long-term separation between parents and children is not conducive to the emotional communication between children and parents. Even if parents occasionally call to ask about their children's study life, the children are only perfunctory, and it is difficult for parents to get any useful information from this short answer.
In rural areas of China, left-behind children have become a special group. However, rural schools are limited and restricted by school conditions, teachers and educational concepts, and cannot meet the needs of left-behind children and care for education. So that its school education is also inadequate. There is a lack of communication between home and school, poor supervision, and left-behind children are tired of playing truant and their grades are declining. Therefore, most teachers find it difficult to teach students now. Especially the only-child left-behind children are more difficult to manage. There are several reasons for this:
1. The school layout is unreasonable and the school conditions are poor. As far as my school is concerned, the conditions for running a school are extremely difficult. There is no special life teacher, but the head teacher with heavy teaching tasks can also serve as a life teacher, which increases the burden on the head teacher. In addition, there is a serious shortage of funds for running schools in rural areas, which restricts the hardware facilities and the treatment of teachers. It is impossible to create a good learning environment for students, thus affecting the study and ideological education of left-behind children.
2. Lack of teachers. There are no special psychological counseling teachers in rural schools. Although quality education has long been put forward as the content of education reform, in rural areas, schools pay more attention to the enrollment rate and ignore the mental health education of students, especially the mental health of left-behind children.
3. Home visits are not in place. On the one hand, the parents of left-behind children are away all the year round, so teachers can't communicate with their parents about their children's learning and ideological status in time, and most of their grandparents have difficulty communicating with their parents because of their lack of quality. In the long run, it is not conducive to the healthy growth of children. On the other hand, due to the shortage of teachers' funds, heavy workload of teachers and geographical restrictions, rural schools pay less home visits to left-behind children. Lack of understanding of their family situation and failure to give special care.
4. The concept of education lags behind. Until education finds a better evaluation method. Examination-oriented education is still being implemented, not examination-oriented education. Rural education still focuses on the concept of continuing education. Teachers can't take care of all the students. Especially in the graduating class, everyone is concerned about whether a few people can be admitted to key middle schools, thus ignoring the study of those poor students, leading to serious polarization between top students and poor students, making some poor students give up on themselves and break the jar. The enrollment rate of students directly affects the survival and development of schools, determines the quality of teachers' work, promotion and salary increase, and leads to the competition between key schools and private schools for students. In this environment, how can teachers care for left-behind children? Who is to blame? Is it just the teacher's fault?
5. The course is just a form. The curriculum of rural schools is restricted by educational ideas, school conditions, teachers and so on. Most of the courses offered are not attended, and even if they are offered, they are just coordination. In physical education class, computer classes are a mere formality, and the library is closed. Many classes are overcrowded by Chinese and math teachers. This is really surprising today when quality education is advocated. This phenomenon is not uncommon in rural schools. The school in the village only teaches language and mathematics, let alone psychology.
In a word, the present situation of family education and school education of left-behind children is the main reason for the present situation of left-behind children's education.
Second, suggestions and countermeasures
In view of the above situation, it is necessary to prescribe the right medicine, treat both the symptoms and the root causes, and improve and solve the education problems of left-behind children.
(A) to strengthen mental health education
Many problems of left-behind children, a special group, are related to their mental health status and the inadequate implementation of mental health education in rural schools. In other words, the effect is not ideal and needs to be improved and improved. Therefore, it is suggested that every school should set up a mental health course, which is taught by a special psychological teacher. In addition, a special psychological counseling room will be set up to solve the psychological problems of students, especially left-behind children.
