Information Literacy Framework for Higher Education is the latest information literacy guidance document issued by American Association of Universities and Research Libraries (ACRL) on 20 15. Through a detailed interpretation of its contents, we can understand the development trend of American higher education information literacy standards and provide reference for the theory and practice of information literacy education in China in the new period.
[Method/Process] This paper analyzes the specific content of Information Literacy Framework for Higher Education, establishes a framework model, compares it with the 2000 edition of Information Literacy Competency Standard for Higher Education, analyzes its remarkable characteristics and improvements, and thinks about the reform direction of information literacy education in colleges and universities.
[Results/Conclusion] This framework expands the connotation and extension of information literacy, redefines the core content of information literacy education, emphasizes the importance of metacognitive training, and guides the development of information literacy education in higher education to integrate with academics, pay attention to abilities and promote academic exchanges under the new information environment.
