What kind of life experience does Zemu's greatness come from?
A key figure of Zen Buddhism in the world-Zejupiter Road (his activity time was from his twenties to 1965) has been dead for more than 20 years. Even today, we can still feel his far-reaching influence. But when he was born, the situation was so difficult and difficult that it was unimaginable. ZeJupiter Road was born in Xindong Town, Tsushima City, Mie Prefecture 1880. At that time, Japan was undergoing great changes towards modernization, and the new country did not have a solid foundation. In that turbulent era, Zejupiter's mother died at the age of four, and his father died suddenly at the age of eight. Four brothers and sisters live in different relatives' houses or become servants of others. At that time, the child named Cai Ji (the future Zejupiter Road) went to an uncle's house. But after only half a year, the uncle died, and he was adopted to the Zemu Wenji family in Yitian Town, where he made paper lanterns for a living, but in fact he made a living by gambling. Zemuxing Road has experienced four years of primary education here. Because I entered school late, I graduated 13 years old. The child's life in his stepparents' home is like a busy servant. He lives in the world of gamblers (selling rice balls), and his eyes have been wandering on the clogs of those guests. Once he witnessed such a scene. A prostitute in her fifties is with her. The prostitute died suddenly because of a heart attack. His wife came the next morning and cried, "Even if he dies, it will bring me such trouble-what place is this!" Therefore, this child named Cai Ji has explored the behind-the-scenes scene of our complicated world, felt the real impermanence that goes deep into the bone marrow, and the heart of seeking Tao has sprouted at this time. Not long after the primary school ended, there was a bloody conflict between more than 70 gamblers because of the boundary problem of the casino. That night, Cai Ji's stepfather was given an unshirkable job, that is, to contact those gamblers who fled. He can't finish the task because of fear. Or the child's talent is willing to finish the work! In the middle of the night, it kept raining. He walked through the horror scene after the bloody conflict to reconnect with the gamblers who had left 10 km. After that night, my stepfather became afraid of him and stopped hitting him. Although Zejupiter Island grew up in such an environment as a child, it also has other very different examples. That's Morita Zongqiyi, who built a shabby hut by himself. Children learn traditional Japanese painting, and fathers make their own scrolls. Cai Ji appreciates this family too much. Although their life is so hard, there is a faint fragrance in it. So he began to walk around Morita's house often. He learned the history and culture of China and Japan from Morita's father. More importantly, he learned that there are more important things in life than fame and wealth. Zemu himself later said that this was the bud of his heart for Tao, and this fruit matured in his later years. After finishing primary school education, Cai Ji took over the business of paper lanterns to support his two hedonistic adoptive parents (his stepmother has become a prostitute). Gradually, he began to look at his life with wide eyes. He began to doubt whether it was appropriate to get married and have children in the future. Although he doesn't know how, his heart is obviously eager to find a way out. Cai left home for the first time. He came to a familiar family in Osaka. But this time it was obvious that the escape was unsuccessful, and their adoptive parents found him. The second time, he decided to go to a place where no one could find him. /kloc-at the age of 0/6, he walked for four days and four nights to Yongping Temple in Qian Yue, carrying 27 immortals in his pocket, 3 Jin of rice on his shoulder and a Odahara lantern. Yongping Temple cannot accept fugitives, and Caiji was rejected at the entrance. For two days and two nights, he waited at the door without eating or drinking, hoping that his request would be accepted: "Either let me be a novice monk or let me die at the entrance of Yongping Temple." Finally, he was accepted as a male member of Yongping Temple Service Department. Later, he went to Yi Yun Temple, another courtyard of Yongping Temple, to help. Once, after a day off, he decided to meditate in his room. Coincidentally, an elderly believer who helped the temple saw it and went into the house to worship him as if he were the Buddha himself. The old lady usually calls him like a servant to be sent, but what made her change and worship him so respectfully? This is the first time that Zejupiter realized that the supreme respect comes from the posture of meditation, which is why he is determined to practice meditation in his later years. In his later years, Zejupiter Daojing often said that he was a meditator all his life. This way of life was born in such an early event. After experiencing many different scenes, the idea of becoming a monk was finally realized in Cao Tianzong Heart Temple. It was named Xingdao by Mr. Zemu Xingfa, the abbot of Zongxin Temple. After that, he worked as a cloud monk in Yuantong Temple in Hyogo Prefecture for two weeks. From there, he went to another temple and met Mr. Diqiu Lingyun. They appreciated each other, and Zemuxing decided to follow Soddy Hill on the road. Diqiu Lingyun followed the great Zen master of Meiji era (1868- 19 12), and Sam was in the west. The longer we live together, the more attracted Zejupiter is to the teacher's straightforward personality. Zejupiter learned from Mr. Diqiu, absorbed in meditation, was strict with himself, and remembered meditation attentively, which became the basis of practicing meditation in the future. Later, Zejupiter Island was drafted into the army and participated in the Russo-Japanese War (1904). He was seriously injured and dying, but he won a gold medal. 27 years old, 1906, returned to Japan. After the war, perhaps a little late for his age, he entered Zhenzong Gaotian School in his hometown. In the second year, he moved to Yamato Horyuji, where he followed Saeki Ding Yin, a leader who only studied knowledge at that time. At the age of 35, after studying all aspects of Buddhism, he began to meditate diligently from morning till night in Chengfu Temple, an unmanned temple in Nara. Meditate right here, deep into his bone marrow. 19 16 A 37-year-old teacher, Qiu Zongtan, invited him to be a lecturer at Kumamoto Daci Temple. At the age of 44, after the death of Mr. Qiu Zongtan, Zemu Xingdao lived alone in Wanri Mountain. Based on this, he began to travel around Japan, introducing meditation and giving various speeches. At the age of 55, Zejupiter Island was appointed as a professor at Ozawa University. In the same year, he became the back hall (chief teacher) of Kunchi Temple in Dabenshan, one of the two major temples in Cao Dongzong. Since then, the most important Hongdao period of Zejupiter Island has begun. At that time, "Zen" was just a kind of case-solving Zen for Lin Jizong, and Zejupiter was completely devoted to the practice of meditation recognized by Taoist Zen masters. Looking back at the history of Japanese Buddhism, we can't ignore that in the era of Zemu Daoism, he was the first person to purify meditation, keeping pace with the popular case-solving Zen at that time. Because he has never lived in his own temple or written any books, people call him a "homeless man". His feet failed and he had to give up walking. He lived in seclusion in Antai Temple until 1965 when he died at the age of 85. If you want to know more about Zemu's life, there are several biographies in Japanese. Here, I only intercepted a few fragments of his life and gave some superficial understanding to those who didn't know him at all. These fragments are branded with the characteristics of his adoptive father and Morita family, his meditation experience in Jinyun Temple, and his meeting with teacher Diqiu Lingyun. In short, in these clips, flower of life of Zejupiter Island is sowing, growing, sprouting and blooming. In front of Antai Temple, retired Zejupito (from left) and his disciples (Yokoyama Zudao, Kasai Junmei, Akihito Sato, and Xing Zheng Neishan).
