Lishui, formerly known as Chuzhou, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang Province, located in the Yangtze River Delta, southwest of Zhejiang Province, bordering Wenzhou in the southeast, Ningde and Nanping in Fujian Province in the southwest, Quzhou in the northwest, Jinhua in the north and Taizhou in the northeast. The terrain is dominated by mountains and hills, sloping from southwest to northeast, belonging to subtropical monsoon climate.
The city has 1 municipal district and 7 counties, and manages 1 county-level city, with the area of municipal district 1.73 million square kilometers. The municipal government is located in Liandu. By the end of 2022, the resident population of Lishui City was 2510.5 million.
1949 10, Lishui area was established; On July 9, 2000, the administrative office was abolished and Lishui City was established. Lishui is known as the "Green Valley of Zhejiang", with 3,573 peaks at an altitude of 1 1,000 meters, Huangmaojian Peak in fengyangshan of Longquan City at an altitude of 1 1,929 meters, and Baishanzu in qingyuan county at an altitude of 1 1,856.7 meters, which are the first and second peaks in Zhejiang Province respectively.

There are many A-level scenic spots in the city, among which Jinyun Xiandu Scenic Area has become a national 5A-level tourist scenic spot.
