The problem of dropping out of primary and secondary schools is a difficult problem in our education. Taking the mountainous area of Lu 'an City, Anhui Province as an example, the present situation is very miserable among the 1 1 rural primary and secondary schools surveyed. Some teachers who asked not to be named said that the phenomenon of students dropping out of school is more serious now, except for some students in remote mountainous areas who drop out of school after graduation from primary school, mainly in the second semester of grade three. Some students and parents feel that there is no hope for further education, so they let their children go out to the society early to earn money. But I personally feel that most farmers still attach great importance to knowledge and education. They also understand that only by learning knowledge can there be a way out. So, why do rural teenagers drop out of school?
First of all, the increase in education expenditure and the severe employment situation have become the economic burden and psychological pressure of farmers. According to statistics, the per capita tuition of college students in China has risen from 800 yuan in 1995 to about 5,000 yuan in 2004, while the tuition of students entering the new campus is about 6,000 yuan. The accommodation fee increased from 1995 in 270 yuan to 1000 in 2004 to 1200 yuan; Coupled with eating and dressing, the average annual cost of each college student is about 6.5438+0 million yuan. According to the national average annual net income of urban residents and farmers in 2004, it was 9422 yuan and 2936 yuan respectively. Supporting a college student requires the net income of farmers 13.6 years. Farmers look at the families around them who have increased their living burden for their children to go to school, and they have to calculate an "economic account", and then they feel afraid of education, so they have to be respectful rather than obedient.
Secondly, the backward educational environment and conditions in rural areas make farmers feel that there is no way to educate. In recent years, the investment in rural education has increased relatively, and the environment and conditions of education and teaching have improved, but there is still a big gap compared with social and economic development and current educational needs. The "development" of many rural education is mostly limited to building a teaching building and adding some teaching equipment, but the soft environment of education has not been significantly improved. The author saw in a rural primary school in Jinzhai County that there are about 70 students, three grades and three teachers, one of whom is a temporary high school graduate. The gap between teachers and teaching quality makes it difficult for many students to receive a good education, and farmers can't get benefits in education, which makes them feel that they can't get education.
Third, the aggravation of economic concept breeds the concepts of "reading is useless" and "money talks". A farmer's words are typical. He said: "Reading is just literacy and accounting. What's the use of reading more? " Under the guidance of this concept, some farmers' understanding of education still stays on "literacy and bookkeeping".
To this end, I personally suggest: First, fundamentally reduce the burden on farmers, that is, solve the problem of rural children attending school, and reduce tuition fees according to their difficulty. Second, some excellent teachers are transferred from the city every year to strengthen the construction of teachers. Third, rural teachers' low quality, aging age structure and low academic qualifications should be highly valued by relevant departments.
