Training objectives

It mainly trains high-level compound professionals in higher education, educational economy and management who are fully developed morally, intellectually and physically and meet the needs of national and local economic and social development. Its specific requirements are:

1. has the spirit of patriotism and collectivism, good moral quality and strong enterprising spirit, and is determined to serve the construction and development of the motherland.

2. Master the basic theories and professional knowledge of systematic higher education, education economy and management; Familiar with the history, present situation and development trend of domestic and foreign research in this discipline; Have the innovative consciousness of engaging in higher education, educational economy and management science research, and the professional skills of analyzing educational policies, applying educational management technology and conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis; Have the ability to use the first foreign language for international communication, be proficient in reading foreign language documents of this subject, and initially have the ability to write foreign language research papers; Have the ability to engage in teaching, scientific research and educational administration in colleges and universities.

First, higher education (higher education)

Higher education is a new discipline, which belongs to two disciplines of pedagogy. This paper takes the theoretical and practical problems in the field of higher education as the main research object, and probes into and reveals the special laws in this field. This discipline has developed rapidly in recent 20 years, and now it has developed into a number of disciplines including higher education economics, higher education sociology, higher education management, higher education principles, Chinese and foreign higher education history, comparative higher education, higher education structure, higher education evaluation, higher education teaching theory and higher education curriculum theory.

This subject mainly studies the relationship between higher education and many social factors and the internal factors of higher education; Management and evaluation of higher education; History of Chinese and foreign higher education; Higher education curriculum and teaching reform; Comparison of international higher education; University psychology, etc.

Second, the education economy and management major

The major of educational economics and management mainly covers two disciplines: educational economics and educational management. Educational economics is a new frontier discipline with the economic growth and development. Educational economics devotes itself to educational development in economic growth and development, explains the complementary relationship between economic construction and educational development, reveals the operating law of educational economic relationship in modern economic development, and provides economic decision-making and management technology in human resource allocation in economic growth and educational development. Therefore, educational economics is a new discipline that integrates theoretical and practical research, compatible with normative and empirical research methodology, and combines the development of new theoretical fields with the provision of applied technology. Educational management is a science that studies the management of national educational affairs. With the differentiation of disciplines, educational management has actually been divided into educational administration and school management. The former mainly studies the macro-management of education by the state, while the latter mainly discusses the internal management of schools.

Third, the on-the-job master class.

At present, the enrollment major of in-service master's degree in the College of Education is higher education (English curriculum and teaching theory direction, higher education management direction).

University graduates (bachelor degree), teachers and teaching administrators who have been engaged in teaching or management for more than 2 years in colleges and universities, or personnel from enterprises and institutions with high English level can apply. The study period is 2-3 years, and the longest is no more than 4 years (students must pass the courses specified in the same professional master training plan within 2 years).

The main courses in the direction of English curriculum and teaching theory include higher education, curriculum and teaching theory, educational psychology, applied linguistics, selected readings of linguistic classics, research methods of English linguistics, and special research, with a total of 34 credits. The main courses of education management major include higher education, curriculum and teaching theory, education management, China education history, foreign education history, educational psychology, educational research methods and so on, with a total of 34 credits. All courses are taught by teachers from Lanzhou University School of Education and Lanzhou University School of Foreign Languages in summer vacation.

Students can apply for the national postgraduate foreign language proficiency test and the national comprehensive level test within the specified time (the college is responsible for counseling). After passing the examination, a master's degree in education can be awarded three months later.
