At the beginning of the construction, Jiangning University Town was planned with the idea of building a new knowledge city, which was divided into resource sharing area and university concentration area. The resource sharing area extends in a strip shape, and universities are distributed on both sides. The service facilities of colleges and universities are concentrated in the resource sharing area to realize the inter-school resource sharing. The key projects of "Top Ten Public Facilities in Jiangning University Town", including three first-class hospitals, four-star hotels and commercial pedestrian streets, have been fully launched.

Jiangning University Town is still rapidly integrating into the urban development of Nanjing. It is only 12km away from the main urban area, and many main roads such as Airport Expressway, Jiangjun Road and Li Ning Road go directly to the urban area, and 10 bus lines go directly to the school gate, and Ning Hang High-speed Railway Second Ring Road and Nanjing-Hangzhou Expressway pass through the city. China Pharmaceutical University Station, the starting point of the south extension of Nanjing Metro 1 Line, is located in Jiangning University Town.

The relevant person in charge of Jiangning University Town said that in the future, the University Town will take the introduced famous schools as the carrier and move towards building a first-class university gathering area in China. At the same time, it will further improve its services and supporting facilities, attract more well-known domestic and international universities to settle in, and build Nanjing into a city of education and innovation.
