The Foreign Affairs University is the first university in China to offer undergraduate courses in diplomacy, the only university directly under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and one of the six "small-scale pilot universities" of the Ministry of Finance. The Foreign Affairs College, located in Xicheng District, Beijing, is on the list of the second round of "double first-class" universities and disciplines announced by the Ministry of Education! Moreover, since its establishment, it has trained more than 20,000 outstanding graduates for the country, including more than 500 ambassadors abroad, and made important contributions to the diplomatic cause of New China.
The School of Foreign Affairs was founded on the basis of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Renmin University of China 1955. Marshal Chen Yi, then Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State Council, was the first president of the school. 1958 The Foreign Affairs University was renamed the Institute of International Relations, 196 1 resumed its name.
There are 2 campuses, 9 teaching departments, 13 undergraduate majors, more than 400 faculty members and more than 2,000 students. The school has two national specialties, English and diplomacy, and six national first-class undergraduate majors, including translation and French. Its "political science" is a world-class discipline construction discipline. There are majors in diplomacy, international relations, English, translation, French, Japanese, Spanish, law, finance, international economy and trade, among which diplomacy and international relations are national key disciplines.
