Many years ago, I saw a film adapted from this book, starring actress Kate Winslet who played the heroine of Titanic. Impressed, I think this is a very meaningful movie. Last week, "365 Reading" read this book together, which aroused my interest in reading this book.

I borrowed this book from the library after school yesterday afternoon, and then I couldn't wait to read it. Finally, as the appendix in the book says, "I finished it overnight." I was very excited after reading it, but it was too late, so I wrote a reading note this morning.

02

This book is rich in content, with unusual love, Nazi crimes, curiosity and so on. I was attracted by love, and then I fell in love with Hannah in the book.

The novel writes the story between Michael and Hannah from a limited perspective, so we know more about Michael's psychological activities, and Hannah's thoughts and psychology can only be understood or inferred through what Michael sees, hears and feels. Therefore, Hannah has many looming places worth remembering.

03

In her, I think the most rare thing is her self-esteem and curiosity.

Perhaps because of her birth, Hannah is illiterate. This made her feel great shame and became a key factor in determining her fate. Perhaps because of her illiteracy, she did not work for Siemens, but became a female guard in a Nazi concentration camp. Because she couldn't understand the indictment, she didn't know how to grasp the main points in the dock to defend herself. Later, because she didn't want others to know that she couldn't read, she had to admit a crime that didn't belong to her and was finally sentenced to life imprisonment. It is also for this reason that there have been misunderstandings and disputes between her and Michael. In this process, Hannah showed great self-esteem and tried her best to avoid her weakness and let others know about it. She kept this secret for many years, and it was not until many years later that Micha attended Hannah's trial as a law student that she suddenly realized that he had suddenly thought of it based on many previous clues.

Also because of illiteracy, Hannah likes to listen to others read aloud. When she was a prison guard, she often asked thin girls to read to her. These girls were finally sent to Auschwitz concentration camp and died. I believe it is Hannah's respect and curiosity that makes her use this method to make the girls who are bound to die in the end have a better life in the last month. This is also a sign of Hannah's kindness.

04

The scene in which Hannah asked Micha to read to her was impressive. They usually read aloud, take a shower, have sex and lie down together. Hannah is extremely attentive, will pay close attention to the plot changes of the book nervously, and will also express her own views and comments.

She satisfies her thirst for knowledge by listening to readers.

Once, when Michelle's family was out, Michelle invited Hannah to her home. Hannah went to Michael's father's study, a university philosophy professor, and ran her fingers across the back of rows of books, then her face was reflected on the window glass. That scene was deeply imprinted in Michael's mind and became the most touching scene in the book. Micha didn't know Hannah's mental state at that time, and neither did we. But in retrospect, I guess Hannah must be full of longing for those books, admiration for the people who read them, and regret that she can't read.

In prison, Hannah received a tape that Micha read to her. According to those tapes, she began to read and write by herself. Finally, she learned to read and write, and she was very happy. This spirit of self-improvement is admirable, but we deeply regret her later education.

05

I think Hannah is a very innocent person. She defended herself in the dock, but realistically expressed her helplessness and hesitation at the crime scene. She really loves Michael and affectionately calls him little guy. She likes beautiful natural scenery. In prison, she collected photos of Misa and natural beauty. She loves cleanliness, likes taking a bath and smells fresh. Her heart is very pure, so it is hard for us to think that she is a heinous bad person because she used to be a Nazi guard and failed to rescue prisoners in a fire, which led to many prisoners being burned alive. Moreover, after her death, she left a will and gave her inheritance to the daughter of the disaster survivor. How can such a person be hated? How to judge the love between Michelle, 36, and Michelle, 15? Doesn't she love him with all her heart? Isn't she a very kind person? She was involved in a crime only because of a mistake and an accident. We can't say that she is completely innocent. After all, she is indeed a Nazi Women's Guards, but many crimes cannot be entirely borne by her.

06

At first, because of Micha's ignorance, and later because of his weakness, we can never go deep into Hannah's heart and understand her deep sadness, hesitation and helplessness. Most of the information can only be obtained by guessing. Finally, after Hannah committed suicide, Misa went to her cell in prison, saw her collection of books, pictures, articles and wills, and asked the warden about her situation in prison. Misa choked back tears, and his heart must be full of guilt and regret, because he only sent tapes to Hannah, but never wrote to her, which failed Hannah's expectations.

This ending also made me cry. Hannah is a sad person. She hanged herself on the morning of her release from prison. Is she afraid to face life after she is released from prison? I think of the old prisoner who hanged himself before he got out of prison in the movie The Shawshank Redemption. He has lived in the prison system for decades, and he can't imagine how to live in the outside world. Hannah has been living in prison for 18 years. How will she face the outside world? I think another reason is disappointment with Michael. A week before he was released from prison, Misa met Hannah at the request of the warden. Hannah seemed very disappointed with Misa's performance. We really don't know what Hannah was thinking last week. Maybe Hannah's disappointment began years ago. Because the warden said that she used to love cleanliness and pay great attention to keeping in shape, but a few years ago, she began to give up on herself, often didn't take a shower, lost her shape, smelled like an old man, stayed away from everyone and lived in seclusion. Perhaps at that time, Hannah had begun to lose hope and confidence in life.

07

Hannah's story makes people sigh, and there are many mysteries and conjectures in it, which is also the reason why the novel is intriguing. In the preface, Cao Wenxuan strongly recommended this book, saying it was "exquisite and profound". Maybe someone saw the crime of German Nazi in her, someone saw love, someone saw the charm of knowledge ... And I, I, saw many beautiful things in human nature from her.
