Its predecessor was Li's second-class primary school founded by American Presbyterian Church in 1906 (the thirty-second year of Guangxu). 19 10 (the second year of Xuantong), Pan Yagu, an American, donated money to build a three-story villa and added a junior high school, named Lishi Middle School. A year later, his wife donated two two-story houses and set up a separate school for boys and girls. The boys' school is Lishi Middle School and the girls' school is Pumice Middle School.

During 1997, City No.1 Middle School moved from the old campus of Renmin East Road to the new campus of Changjiang Road.

1998, the new Jiangyin No.2 Middle School was officially listed, with Liu as the principal.

From 2000 to 2005, newly requisitioned land 12 mu, newly built No.4 teaching building, Lishi building (book complex) and Jianjie training building on Renmin East Road, and expanded No.6 building and experimental building, with an additional teaching area of 99.43 million square meters.
