The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts was established by the Hong Kong government on 1984, and is dedicated to the cultivation of performing arts talents. It is the only college in Hong Kong that specializes in training performing arts talents. The college teaching building is located in Wan Chai, Hong Kong Island, adjacent to Wan Chai Art Center.
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is the only tertiary institution in Hong Kong that provides education, training and research in performing arts, stage arts and film and television. The teaching policy of the college embodies the multicultural characteristics of Hong Kong, and pays equal attention to the traditional Chinese and Western styles.
At present, the Academy of Performing Arts has the following colleges/disciplines: Dance Academy, Drama Academy, Film and Television Academy, Conservatory of Music, College of Science and Art, and Chinese Opera.
