Dehong Teachers College is a public full-time normal college approved by the Ministry of Education and headed by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education. The school is located in Luxi City, where the capital of Dehong Prefecture is located. It is a project school for training language talents in Southeast Asia and South Asia in Yunnan Province.

The school's predecessor was Dehong National Normal School founded by 1955, Dehong Agricultural School founded by 1958 and Dehong Teachers College founded by 1978. 1in April, 1984, with the approval of Yunnan provincial people's government, Dehong Education College was established on the basis of Dehong Teachers College.

In 2004 and 2006, Dehong National Normal School and Dehong Agricultural School were merged into Dehong Education College respectively. In February, 2006, with the approval of the education administrative department of the State Council, Dehong Education College was transformed into Dehong Teachers College.
