What is the mode of class in Britain?
There are great differences in teaching methods between China and western countries. There are various teaching methods in British schools, so what is their class mode? Let me introduce some to you. Come and have a look!

1. Class

Classes are divided into large classes and small classes.

Students who are going to study liberal arts and business in Britain, lectures, that is, large classes, account for the largest proportion of your study arrangements. Liberal arts majors are mainly in large classes, and some courses are in small classes with more than a dozen people, which can also be called discussion groups.

As for how to divide large classes and small classes, there is no division of administrative classes in Britain. Everyone has a class, such as the course of educational psychology. In addition to educational psychology, students majoring in this major will also have this course in compulsory courses or elective courses of educational leaders, early education, educational philosophy and other education-related majors. But classes like dyslexia are basically only needed by students majoring in special education.

Art students, whether designing or performing, also face some cultural theory courses.

As for the students of science and engineering, there are more small classes because the majors are more detailed.

Step 2 give a speech

Lectures in British university classes are usually given by one or more professors or lecturers to explain professional knowledge, theories and recent academic development. This is the best way to build a professional theoretical framework for everyone.

Classrooms generally choose lecture halls or rooms with large space. Just like domestic universities, a large group of students listen to a teacher's lecture on the stage, which usually lasts for more than 2 hours. The teacher will let you rest 10 to 15 minutes to go out to the toilet or buy a refreshing cup of coffee.

In the lecture, students can bring any electronic equipment, such as computers and iPad. Many foreign students like to bring their computers to class, and then take notes directly on the courseware in the computer. There are also many international students who like to take handwritten notes with such a large notebook.

Most students who ask questions and express their opinions to teachers in class are almost foreign students. Some China students are always "silent", which may be due to the initial language communication barriers, and on the other hand, because of the influence of traditional teaching methods in China, they are not good at expressing their ideas.

3. Discussion class

Generally, after the lecture, a discussion class is held, from 1 time to 1 time per week, and the class time is generally between 30 minutes and 1 hour, with about 10-20 people. The person who leads the discussion is sometimes a professor and sometimes a doctoral student in the same major.

Usually, teachers of various subjects will upload the courseware of the lecture and the materials to be discussed by seminar to the online teaching platform of the subject in advance. Students log on to the school website with their own accounts, print courseware before class, and study and prepare what will be discussed in the seminar.

This kind of class is also more relaxed and casual in form. Sit in a circle, or form a group of three or four people to discuss some questions or specific situations raised by the teacher. After the discussion, the teacher will listen to the discussion results of each group, or the group will choose one or more members to make a presentation, and the teacher will grade the performance and results of the discussion process.

4. Seminar

Although compared with the workshop, the workshop has only one Chinese deviation, but from the content to the participants are two completely different course forms! Seminar is a seminar where lecturers invite other lecturers to discuss and share their views according to a topic they want to talk about, which is especially common in business schools. The lecturer will send the background and main topics of the invited lecturer to the students in advance, so many interested students will conduct research and data collection according to the research direction of the guest lecturer, and can discuss with the guest lecturer in the seminar with their own views. The scale of the seminars is large and small, and some small seminars are professional. After the seminar, students also have more time to communicate with visiting lecturers.

5. Field trip

The majors of architecture, archaeology and urban planning in British universities often organize students to go on field trips. Students will travel to different countries or cities to learn knowledge during field trips. Science, engineering, medicine, journalism and other majors will also visit industry companies or factories to let everyone know the real enterprise environment and workflow.

6. One-on-one tutoring

Each student will be assigned to a teacher or a university researcher as his personal tutor. The tutor will communicate with the students from time to time and get feedback from his learning process. The tutor will also ask, coach and follow up the students' graduation thesis from the beginning of the semester, including the topics set in the early stage, the research methods in each stage, how to operate and the final writing. Teachers of various majors will also open their own tutoring schedules accordingly, and students can make appointments for tutoring time. Students can communicate with teachers on any problems in the course within 15-30 minutes of personal tutoring time. British university teachers will not be at school every day, so the number of students received by teachers is limited in the only office hours, so once this week's tutoring time is posted, students should fill in their names immediately.
