Liupanshui is located in the west of Guizhou Province, on the first and second terraces of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, with a ground span of 2519' 44 "to 26 55' 33" north latitude and 0/0418' 20 "to105 43" east longitude.
The total area is 9965 square kilometers, accounting for 5.63% of the total area of the province. The city borders Anshun City in the east, Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in southwest Guizhou in the south, Qujing City in Yunnan Province in the west and Bijie City in the north.
