Putian Literature Middle School was founded in 1986, with the aim of "inheriting the educational tradition of Putian literature". Although the school has a short history, it has developed rapidly and has become a backbone school for popularizing junior high school education in urban areas. Now cooperate with Putian No.5 Middle School. The school is located in the Daxi area at the intersection of Licheng Avenue, Meiyuan Road, Shishi Road and Xiaotang Road, with reasonable layout and beautiful environment. The total campus area is 2267 1 m2 (about 34 mu), and the total school building area is 1 1640 m2. The green area is 743 1 m2, and the coverage rate is 33.6%. In the 10th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (153 1), Wang Ju, the magistrate of Putian, changed the "good custom workshop" to "famous literary workshop".

In the forty-fourth year of Jiajing (1565), Xu Zhice, a magistrate of a county, set up two workshops: Putian Literature and Zou Lu by the Sea.

In the 16th year of Wanli (1588), Sun Zhi-xian changed the second square to "Hulan" square and "Famous Country of Literature" square. One of the reasons why Putian has become a famous country of literature is the tradition of attaching importance to culture and education in Putian for thousands of years. The name "literature" in literature middle school has far-reaching significance.
