Putian No.2 Middle School, referred to as "Putian No.2 Middle School" or "No.2 Middle School", is a full-time public complete middle school directly under Putian Education Bureau. The school, formerly known as Peiyuan Academy, was founded in 1878, and later renamed as "Xingxian Philosophy Chinese and Western School" and "Philosophy Middle School". 1952 was renamed as "Putian No.2 Middle School" and has been in use ever since.
Putian No.2 Middle School ranks among the first-class standard schools of ordinary high schools in Fujian Province, and was selected as the first batch of demonstration high school construction schools in Fujian Province, and was named the second national civilized campus. At the same time, Putian No.2 Middle School was once rated as a provincial key middle school and a provincial first-class standard middle school. 202 1 was recognized as the first batch of provincial-level safe campuses, and was named as the first batch of demonstration high schools in Fujian Province in February 2022.

Putian No.2 Middle School has a century-old sports tradition. As early as 1898, American principals such as Proust introduced western sports and listed it as a regular course, offering basketball, track and field, gymnastics and other projects. With the development of the school, it has gradually formed the characteristics of running a sports school and become a strong sports school in Putian area and even the whole province.
Lin Huijun, Cai Yuxian, Lin Shanshan, Zou Yifan, He Yushan and other outstanding sports talents have emerged in the school.
