Abstract: Aesthetic education is the core part of music education in primary and secondary schools. Cultivate students' love for beautiful music, help them establish a correct aesthetic view, cultivate healthy and upward aesthetic taste, and enlighten wisdom, purify the soul and cultivate sentiment. However, in the current music education in primary and secondary schools in China, aesthetic education has not been well implemented, which seriously deviates from the basic idea that music education should focus on music aesthetics. In view of this situation, the author has made some beneficial discussions on the reform of music aesthetic education.

Aesthetic education, that is, aesthetic education, is an organic part of China's education system and an important part of implementing quality education. Music education is one of the manifestations of aesthetic education, which is the core of music education. It no longer aims at imparting music knowledge and skills, but focuses on emotional education and aesthetic education, and cultivates students' innovative spirit and practical ability in teaching activities such as music creation, performance and appreciation. This new concept of music education conforms to the characteristics of music art itself and the requirements of quality education being implemented in China. However, in the implementation of music education in primary and secondary schools in China, the value of music lessons has not been paid enough attention. Music class is only to complete the teaching task and instill some music knowledge and skills into students, which not only makes students lose their interest in learning music, but also loses the role of music aesthetic education, which runs counter to the basic principles of music pedagogy.
