Located in Baoding, a famous historical and cultural city in China, the Central Judicial Police College is the only ordinary university directly under the Ministry of Justice. As the largest university in the field of corrective education in the world, it is known as the "cradle of senior judicial police officers" in China. It is recognized by the industry as a reserve talent training base for the national judicial administrative system, a training base for leading cadres and senior police officers, and a research and innovation base for judicial administrative theory.

The college was founded in 1956, formerly known as the reform-through-labour cadre school of the Ministry of Public Security. In the course of 50 years' development, it has always been closely related to the judicial administration in China, especially the reeducation through labor in prisons. At the beginning of its establishment, its main function was to train national prison directors and reeducation-through-labor directors. It was closed during the Cultural Revolution. 1980 resumed, and 1983 was placed under the leadership of the Ministry of Justice, and it was renamed the cadre school for reform-through-labor work of the Ministry of Justice. 1985, in order to meet the requirements of regularization, regularization and institutionalization of the education of prison reeducation-through-labor cadres, the central reeducation-through-labor cadre management college was established and adult higher education began.

The special role of the college in the construction of reeducation-through-labor team and maintaining social stability has been highly valued by the central government. 1995 "Notice of the State Council on Further Strengthening Prison Management and Reeducation through Labor" (Guo Fa [1995] No.4) clearly points out: "In order to meet the needs of governing the country according to law, improve the overall quality of police officers in prisons and reeducation through labor institutions, cultivate high-level management talents, and make full use of existing teaching facilities, if it is really necessary, we can build a judicial police college according to the financial situation. In the same year, it was renamed the Central Judicial Police Education College. 1997 1, in view of the urgent need for senior professionals in China's prison reeducation through labor, according to the spirit of the the State Council document, the Ministry of Education approved the college to hold general higher education classes, and tried to recruit undergraduate and junior college students majoring in prison management and reeducation through labor management, and began the exploration of general higher education on the basis of adult colleges.

With the continuous advancement of democracy and the rule of law, China's prison reeducation through labor has gradually been pushed to the forefront of the human rights struggle, and the quality and level of law enforcement in prison reeducation through labor institutions need to be improved urgently. In order to change the serious shortage of high-level professionals in the prison reeducation-through-labor system, 1999 College began to apply for the Central Judicial Police College. On March 28th, 2000, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of the Central Judicial Police College based on general higher education and undergraduate education, with a construction period of 1-2 years. On April 24, 2002, the Ministry of Education issued a document approving the establishment of the Central Judicial Police College, which enabled the college to achieve a historic leap from an adult college to an ordinary college, from a junior college to an undergraduate college, and from a self-funded school to a state-funded school. At present, the college has 6336 full-time undergraduates in general higher education.

The college covers a total area of 295,400 square meters, with a library of 9,567 square meters, 723,000 books, more than 200 kinds of periodicals 1.200, and more than 800,000 electronic books. The college has teaching units such as prison department, reeducation-through-labor management department, law department, information management department, police management department, basic course teaching and research section, Marxism-Leninism teaching and research section, police physical education teaching and research section, training department, continuing education department and modern education technology center. After years of discipline construction, a distinctive discipline system with the advantages of prison science and corrective pedagogy, based on law, pedagogy and management science, and the mutual penetration and coordinated development of related disciplines has been initially formed. Among them, prison science and corrective pedagogy, as key disciplines at the ministerial level, are in a leading position in the country. College graduates are distributed in 1000 prisons and reeducation-through-labor centers all over the country, which have made outstanding contributions to the judicial administration, especially the development of reeducation-through-labor in prisons. The college has become a reserve talent training base for the national judicial administrative system.

The college continuously integrates scientific research resources, builds a theoretical innovation platform, and strives to provide high-quality theoretical and technical services for national judicial administration, especially prison reeducation through labor. China Prison Magazine, sponsored by our college, is an academic journal of representative theory of prison system in China. In order to strengthen academic research, the college has held the first national judicial police officer education forum, the national seminar on the construction and development of prison science, the seminar on the theory of prison science in nine northern provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities and colleges), and the seminar on Scientific Outlook on Development and judicial administration.
