Scientific research is an important part of the work of software institute. Tsinghua Institute of Software has the National Engineering Center-National Enterprise Information Application Support Software Engineering Technology Research Center and the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education-Information System Security Laboratory (chips) as its scientific research support platform. At the same time, four research institutes have been established to engage in teaching and scientific research in the fields of software theory system, information organization and management, software engineering, computer graphics and computer-aided design, and information system security. The college emphasizes the combination of teaching and scientific research, pays attention to the transformation of scientific research achievements into practical productive forces and serves the society, and has initially formed a benign scientific research management mechanism and a good Industry-University-Research pattern. The College has successively undertaken more than 70 national scientific research projects and international cooperation projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation, the 973 Plan, the 863 Plan, the Tenth Five-Year Plan, the science and technology support plan, the national key industries and enterprise informatization projects, developed more than 10 software products with independent intellectual property rights, and won dozens of national awards such as the second prize of national scientific and technological progress. Tsinghua University Institute of Software is one of the first batch of national demonstration software institutes approved by the Ministry of Education and the State Planning Commission in 20001year, and it belongs to Tsinghua University Institute of Information Science and Technology. Tsinghua University is one of the sponsors of the National Model Software College.
