After listening to two classes in vocational schools and three classes in ordinary high schools, we found that students have no fixed classrooms. As soon as the time comes, the teaching building is full of students, carrying schoolbags and running to various classrooms. Rows of hooks can be seen everywhere on the corridor wall, specially for students to hang schoolbags, and some students sit on the ground to rest. Walking into the classroom, I found that all classes were taught in small classes. Generally, there are about 25 students in each class, with no more than 30 students at most and only 7 students in the least class.
The teaching environment is free and relaxed, and students can stand or sit and talk when answering questions. The relationship between teachers and students is harmonious, and there has never been a contradiction between teachers and students in class. The classroom teaching form is lively, and students sit around the teacher in a U-shape, which is convenient for teachers and students to communicate. The form of classroom teaching is basically dialogue, and the knowledge capacity of a class is very small. Teachers attach great importance to inspiring students' thinking. After the teacher asked questions, teachers and students discussed them together, and some students quoted classics and argued with each other. Bilateral activities are frequent and the atmosphere is very active.
The principal of the school said that this is to cultivate students' thinking of learning scientific and cultural knowledge and teach them how to collect information. The foothold of education lies in guiding students to study problems spontaneously and expand their thinking. At this time, several of our principals have doubts: how to ensure the quality of such basic education? Through investigation and understanding, we realize that German education quality view is different from China's. The quality of teaching we require means that students can master solid and solid cultural knowledge and take examination results as the standard. The quality of teaching in Germany lies in the improvement of students' thinking ability and whether students can use what they have learned to study and solve problems.
German middle school students generally learn three languages. Besides learning their mother tongue well, English is a compulsory course. Besides, they can choose a course from Spanish and Latin. Their study in middle school is relatively easy, because the state encourages young people to develop freely when they grow up. Once entering the university stage, the requirements will be very strict, and the academic level must reach a certain level, so students can't finish their studies without hard work.
