The Institute of Education is a specialized school for training teachers. From this point of view, it is no different from normal college. But the difference is that the Institute of Education is a school that trains students who are "already teachers" or teachers who are studying, while the Normal College is a school that trains people who want to be teachers in the future.

According to the classification of schools, the Institute of Education belongs to one of the adult colleges.

Grading function

The College of Education is divided into three levels: provincial colleges of education, local colleges of education and county teachers' further education schools. Except Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, all provinces, municipalities directly under the Central Government and autonomous regions have established provincial education colleges under the Provincial Education Department.

Its function is to undertake the training of key middle schools, ordinary middle schools, secondary specialized schools, principals of county (city, district) teacher training schools, county (city, district) education directors and other educational administrative cadres, backbone teachers in primary and secondary schools and some new teachers. It is a national training base for thousands of key principals and 10,000 key teachers in primary and secondary schools nationwide.
