Trees should be pruned from childhood, and children should be educated from childhood —— Chapter 42 of Tao Te Ching
original text

Tao gives birth to one, two, three and everything. Everything is negative and positive, and I rashly think it is peace. What people hate is loneliness, lack of kindness and ignorance, which princes think is called. Therefore, things are either profitable or profitable. I also teach what people teach, and those who strengthen Liang will not die, so I will take them as godfathers.

The world grows out of nothing, and the Tao gives birth to one and two, that is, yin and yang, and two gives birth to three, that is, "Chong" and "He". Everything is born.

The earth was born for more than 6 billion years, while human beings only have 2-3 million years. Between the appearance of human beings, the world and the universe have already existed, and the Tao has already existed.

In this chapter, Lao Tzu talks about "benevolence", the way of gain and loss, and the way of strength from the way of yin and yang in Heaven.

Yang and Yin are the unity of opposites. They are independent and inseparable from each other, they neutralize each other and produce harmony. Only when you are kind can you be considered a moral person.

It is precisely because "harmony" is the commonality between man and everything that only kind people can have a successful and happy life.

We like to say "harmony makes money" and "home and everything". Harmony here is "harmony". Kind people never care about personal gains and losses, nor are they greedy for petty gains and petty gains, so the pain and troubles around them are naturally much less.

Speaking of profit and loss, "things are either profitable or profitable." Damage to it is good for it. I remember when my parents planted cotton as a child, there would definitely be farm work-"turning around", that is, pinching off the tender top leaves of cotton seedlings. When I was a child, I often felt sorry for these "tender heads". Unfortunately, they are too fresh and watery. Why should I pinch them off?

Parents say that only by pinching the head can cotton be harvested in autumn.

After another n years, I grew flowers and meat at home myself. Every spring, as long as I see green shoots coming out, I am happy. I can't bear to cut off a little bit, even if it is the grass that grows in the flowerpot soil. I always feel it's a pity to pinch it.

However, those flowers and succulents don't grow well every year, or grow wildly without shape, or wither in winter. I am very depressed, why the flowers and plants I planted only have a life span of one year, and why some people have been planted for many years and still look good.

Asked a flower grower, he told me that if you want to be "willing", you must prune in spring, cut off the fleshy head and plant the cut "head" in another flowerpot; For larger flowers and trees, side branches must be randomly removed from the roots. It is best to leave one branch on the trunk, with no more than three branches at most. Extra branches must be cut off so that the flower trees can grow thick and strong.

When I got home, I was cruel and had my head cut off. A few days later, I found many small buds on the old heap. In a few days, those little buds grew bigger and bigger, just like small flowers, and they were beautiful.

"Things or losses are beneficial", in fact, people are the same. When children are young, strict rules and disciplines must be established. When he grows up, he will be more educated and relaxed. On the contrary, if he is allowed to "grow wildly" as a child, it is like a tree growing many branches from its root. The nutrients that were originally only available to the "trunk" were scattered by the branches. When he grew up, it would be much more difficult to repair and discipline.

The strength is the same. People who blindly advocate force and violence will not come to a good end in the end, because it is not in line with the Tao. For example, in war, the result must be mutual loss.

In the same way, husband and wife can get along. If one party knows how to show weakness appropriately (not blindly or only), and is in a relatively strong position, and can show weakness appropriately, then two people can achieve a balance of yin and yang and live a long, harmonious and happy life.

Translation?

The Tao is unique, and the Tao itself is endowed with Yin and Yang, and the intersection of Yin and Yang forms a well-balanced state, in which everything in the world is produced. Everything is cloudy and sunny, and a new harmonious body is generated in the interaction of yin and yang. What people hate most is "loneliness", "shameless" and "arrogance", while princes are used to calling themselves. So things in the world decrease, sometimes they increase, and sometimes they decrease when they increase. I was taught this way, and I will teach others this way. Those who try to be brave will die a natural death, and I will take this as the purpose of teaching people truth.
