The main task of health education
(1) Improve the popularization rate of health education knowledge and the formation rate of health behaviors. Establish or promote the sense of responsibility of individuals or society to prevent diseases and maintain their own health; Encourage people to adopt health and behavior voluntarily; Help individuals, families and communities understand and recognize which behaviors are beneficial to health and which behaviors are harmful to health; Recognize the damage to health caused by a specific lifestyle; Promote and strengthen self-conscious behaviors that contribute to health and actively participate in self-care activities. Research on the formulation of China's prevention and health care strategic goals in 2000 suggests that 40% ~ 60% people know the knowledge of prevention and health care of major local diseases, and 50% people begin to correct unhealthy life behaviors and improve their self-care ability.

(2) Improve the participation rate of social groups in health education activities. Promote individuals and society to actively participate in making and taking wise decisions, or choose healthy behaviors, such as reducing the harm of smoking and promoting the formulation of the Law on the Control of Smoking Hazards, so as to create a social and natural environment conducive to changing certain behaviors.

(3) Provide health education information for leaders at all levels, competent departments or professionals, effectively promote and influence leaders' decision-making levels to change their ideas in time so as to make wise decisions.

(4) Promoting the construction of socialist spiritual civilization; Improve the scientific and cultural level of the whole nation; Establish a correct health awareness widely; Advocate a civilized, healthy and scientific lifestyle; Overcome the bad habits of ignorance and backwardness in society and improve the common bad behavior. For example, washing hands before and after meals is a common hygienic behavior and an important means to prevent intestinal infectious diseases. However, this simple behavior is often overlooked. At present, the rate of washing hands before and after meals is only 49.8% for college students in Beijing and 65.5% for college students in Shanghai. Therefore, we should spare no effort to educate this "cliche" and promote the establishment of corresponding facilities, such as clean water and hand washing equipment.
